New Willow Court committee soon – mayor

A PUBLIC forum to establish a new committee for the redevelopment of the Willow Court historic site would be held soon, mayor Tony Nicholson told tonight’s meeting of the Derwent Valley Council. Responding to questions put by Damian Bester, Councillor Nicholson said the council had discussed Willow Court at two recent “workshops”.

Cr Nicholson did not elaborate on what he described as a “Willow Court development update” which was provided to councillors on July 2 at their private monthly gathering, but he said a subsequent workshop on July 14 had defined certain details about the staging of a public forum. At last month’s council meeting it was decided that such a forum would be held and the membership of a new Willow Court development committee would be drawn from that forum.

Cr Nicholson said the council did not have a specific date for forming the new committee, but the community forum would be advertised soon. The council has owned the Willow Court historic site in central New Norfolk for nearly a decade, with little progress on its development as a visitor attraction, and a growing vandalism repair bill.
