FIRE investigators will visit New Norfolk tomorrow to probe a suspicious fire at the Willow Court historic site. Units from the New Norfolk and Magra fire brigades extinguished the fire which occurred in the basement of the former administration building at Willow Court a short time ago.
The brigade responded to the fire at about 8.40pm and soon had the situation under control. The fire was well alight and smoke could be seen from a distance, incident controller Peter Brazendale said. Firefighters used thermal-imaging cameras to search the large heritage-listed building, which is understood to have recently changed ownership.
A fire-watch will be maintained overnight, until investigators arrive in the morning. The fire is the second this year on the derelict Willow Court site.
