Under 16s go down fighting

THE New Norfolk Under 16s went down fighting in the preliminary final against Clarence at KGV on Sunday. Being 18 points down at three-quarter time, the Eagles clawed their way back but fell short by seven points. The team performed very well for 2012 and coach Dean King and the players should hold their heads high as they have done New Norfolk proud.

Dean has had the team since the Under 8s and for the same time has has a terrific team manager in Kathy Adams. Both did a fantastic job this season and the boys appreciate what they have done. Let’s hope this team can kick on and form a Under 18s team next season in the SFL.

Scores – Clarence 9.10 (64) d New Norfolk 8.9 (57). Goals – Clarence: J. Triffett 3, W. Reibel 2, M. Pyke, D. Peace, H. Triffett, B. McKean; New Norfolk: J. Banks-Smith 2, C. Neads 2, J. Webb, J. Rowlands, D. Adams, B. Ransley. Best – Clarence: N. Williams, D. Allie, J. Triffett, B. Fazackerley, H. Triffett, H. Taylor; New Norfolk: A. Triffitt, J. Banks-Smith, A. Pearton, C. Neads, T. Gray, J. Hayden.
