Greens candidate’s meet and greet

A MEET and greet with the Tasmanian Greens’ lead State Election candidate for Lyons will be held at New Norfolk this weekend.

Former Melbourne City Councillor Fraser Brindley was named as the Greens’ lead candidate for Lyons last April. This Saturday he will join former Greens MHA and past Derwent Valley mayor Tim Morris for a public meeting at the New Norfolk RSL Club from 5-7pm.

Mr Brindley said this would be an opportunity to discuss national and local issues as well as what the Greens have to offer for the Derwent Valley.

“Whether it’s destructive logging, stinking pulp mills, water quality, public transport, anti-democratic planning laws or the pokies, political cronyism is thriving in Tasmania,” Mr Brindley said. “It is degrading our environment, and doing nothing to help those who really need it. The Greens will always stand up for the community and we want to meet and find out what issues are most important to you.”

Mr Brindley said the format for the meeting would be informal, with questions and answers as well as a chance to chat. Mr Morris will be the host for the evening.

On Sunday, Mr Brindley and a team of supporters will be doorknocking in the local area.

All intending candidates for Lyons are welcome to send a profile and photo to the New Norfolk News. Media releases may also be sent to
