Foster family’s long wait may be over

POLICE believe the body of missing Derwent Valley man Trevor Foster may have been located near Lake Meadowbank.

Speaking to the media this afternoon, acting inspector Adrian Leary said a local farmer had contacted police last night to say a body had been located in the area. Inspector Leary said the lake’s water level had been lowered due to roadworks in the area and that led to to the remains being uncovered.

“Items located with the person indicate the deceased may be 81-year-old Trevor Foster,” Insp Leary said. “Mr Foster went missing from his Ouse property during a flood event on June 6, 2016,” he said.

A formal identification will be conducted and a report has been prepared for the coroner. “Police have been in contact with Mr Foster’s family and our thoughts and condolences are with them,” Insp Leary said.
