Piuselli’s big hit

MOLESWORTH I recorded an excellent four-wicket win over Sorell at Pembroke Park in Second Grade, thanks to a superb century from opener Nick Piuselli. After the home team posted 4-278, Molesworth had some work to do. And do that they did, with Piuselli finding the boundaries in a great display. Fellow opener Josh Ransley was also up for the task, making 55, and the pair put on an excellent opening stand of 115. Piuselli then put on 88 with captain Brad Coppleman (40). When the century maker was out for 128 with the score at 5-265, it was Daniel Coppleman with 15, Jayden Wilton who remained 12 not out and Sam Percy on 4no who got their side over the line with just five balls to spare. Earlier with the ball, Kye Tomkinson again got wickets with 2-33 (10). Brad Coppleman got 1-29 (10) and Jeremy Nichols 1-79 (10).

Gretna I got its fourth win on the trot with a 40-run win over St Anne’s at Cadbury No. 1. Batting first, Gretna made 7-228 and in his 400th match, Mathew Burns top-scored with 62. Rhys Browning made 27 as did Aaron Maddox and Jamie Duggan who was not out. In reply, St Anne’s finished 9-188 and couldn’t handle the in-form bowler Craig Cunningham, who got 3-23 (10). Aaron Maddox with 2-52 (10) and Mathew Burns on 1-37 (10) also chipped in.

First Grade
NEW Norfolk I lost its second match in a row, going down to St Aidan’s by 35 runs at Tynwald Park. The visitors had first hit making 9-216 (50). All the bowlers took wickets with Josh Rowlands the best with 3-36 (6). In reply, the Red Caps were dismissed for 181. Jordan Banks-Smith top-scored with 41 while Nathan Rice with 30 and Ben Smith on 23 were next best.

Third Grade
NEW Norfolk II remain undefeated when it easily defeated Bagdad at Tynwald Park by 103 runs. The home side had first hit and was all out for 216 from 47 overs. Jason Rigby top scored with a well-made 68. Chipping in, Steve Sillifant made 25 and Nathan Eiszele 22. In reply, Bagdad was bowled out for 113 due to some great efforts from all bowlers. Stewart Rice put the brakes on, finishing with great figures of 4-16 (10), and Jamie Hill was also great, taking 3-26 . David Mitchelmore with 2-5 (2.2) and Nathan Eiszele 1-35 also did well.

Fourth Grade
BOTHWELL I got back on the winners’ list with a good 44-run win over Gretna II at Gretna. Thanks to a 122-run stand from brothers Matthew Eyles (83 not out) and Joey Eyles (39), and then 32 from Blake Eyles, the Bucks were able to post 4-208. Ross Langford was the best with the ball getting 2-15 (10), including three maidens. In reply Gretna was bowled out for 164 (32). Brian Smith (42) and Jordan Hastie (36) got Gretna off to a good start with a 67-run stand. Josh Whitford made 16. Brodie White did well taking 3-26 (9) and Matthew Eyles made it a double, taking 3-32 (10). Blake Eyles with 2-41 (8) saw the Bucks to victory.

Fifth Grade
NEW Norfolk II remain undefeated when it easily defeated Bagdad at Bagdad by eight wickets. The home side was all out for 164 (49.3). In reply, the Red Caps did it easily, finishing 2-165 from 34 overs. Captain and opener Nathan Heron led the way with a fine 53, sharing an opening stand of 67 with Andrew Challander, who made 27. Coby Kemmler (26no) and Aaron Triffitt (24no) put on 57, finishing the job off well. With the ball, Craig Dale was the main wicket taker with 3-35 (8) while Liam Kalbfell took 2-16 (7).

In the match at Lindisfarne, Bushy Park went down to the home team by five wickets. Batting first, Bushy was all out for 117 (26.2). In reply, Lindisfarne finished 5-118 off 36.4 overs. No other details were available.

Seventh Grade
BOTHWELL II made it two wins in a row when it defeated Old Beach by six wickets. Old Beach, playing three short, was dismissed for 85 (11.4). Bothwell chased the small target down, finishing 4-89 (12.4). Opener Simon Eyles did well, making 43, and Stuart Eyles remained 13 not out. Earlier with the ball, Ashley Browning bowled just 1.4 overs to capture 3-13! Stuart Eyles took 2-14 (2).

Molesworth II had the bye.

New Norfolk v Brighton at Pontville Park (Thompson Oval), 6pm.
