Initial Minor Flood Warning for the River Derwent

Issued at 7pm on Friday 12 July 2019


Flood Warning Number: 1
Minor flooding may develop along the lower Derwent River below Meadowbank Dam during Saturday morning.
Strong river rises are occurring in the upper Derwent, Nive, Ouse, Florentine and Styx Rivers.
Wayatinah Lagoon, Lake Catagunya and Lake Repulse are spilling. Lake Cluny is expected to commence spilling this evening. Lake Meadow Bank is spilling.
Strong and dangerous flows will be a hazard over the next couple of days.


River Derwent above River Ouse:

Strong river rises are occurring in the upper River Derwent and its tributaries.

River Ouse:

Strong river rises are occurring along the River Ouse.

River Derwent above Meadowbank Dam:

Strong river rises are expected in the middle reaches of the River Derwent.

Tyenna River:

River rises are occurring in the Tyenna River.

Styx River:

River rises have occurred along the Styx River. River levels are expected to remain below the minor flood level (2.0 m) along the Styx River about Bruces Bridge overnight Friday.

River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam:

Minor flooding may occur along the River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam.

The River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam is currently at 2.81 metres and steady. The River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam may reach the minor flood level (4.10 m) Saturday morning.
The River Derwent at Macquarie Plains is currently at 1.65 metres and steady. The River Derwent at Macquarie Plains is likely to remain below the minor flood level (4.00 m) Saturday evening.

River Derwent around New Norfolk:

Minor flooding may occur along the River Derwent around New Norfolk.

The River Derwent at New Norfolk is currently at 1.62 metres and steady. The River Derwent at New Norfolk may exceed the minor flood level (2.00 m) Saturday evening.
