Update to minor flood warning

Minor Flood Warning for the River Derwent

Issued at 10:51 am on Sunday 14 July 2019

Flood Warning Number: 3

Minor flooding is occurring along the Styx River. Renewed river rises are occurring along River Derwent tributaries and minor flooding may develop along the lower Derwent River below Meadowbank Dam during Monday. Flooding is not expected to extend downstream to Macquarie Plains and New Norfolk.
River rises are occurring in the upper Derwent, Nive, Ouse, Florentine, Tyenna, Styx and Plenty Rivers.
Snowmelt may add to runoff.
Strong and dangerous flows will be a hazard over the next couple of days.


River Derwent above River Ouse:

River rises are occurring in the upper River Derwent and its tributaries.

River Ouse:

River rises are occurring along the River Ouse. Lake Augusta is spilling in the upper catchment.

The River Ouse at Ashton is currently at 0.97 metres and steady. River levels are expected to remain below the minor flood level (2.40 m) during Sunday.

River Derwent above Meadowbank Dam:

Renewed river rises are occurring along the Florentine River and the middle reaches of the River Derwent.

Tyenna River:

Renewed river rises are occurring in the Tyenna River.

Styx River:

Minor flooding is occurring along the Styx River. The Styx River at Bruces Bridge is currently 2.08 m and rising. River levels may remain around the minor flood level (2.0 m) during Sunday.

River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam:

Minor flooding may occur along the River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam.

The River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam is currently at 3.23 metres and rising. Renewed rises are expected from Sunday. The River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam may reach the minor flood level (4.10 m) during Monday.
The River Derwent at Macquarie Plains is currently at 2.27 metres and falling. The River Derwent at Macquarie Plains is likely to remain below the minor flood level (4.00 m) during Sunday and Monday.

River Derwent around New Norfolk:

River rises are occurring along the River Derwent around New Norfolk.

The River Derwent at New Norfolk is currently at 1.00 metres and rising. The River Derwent at New Norfolk is likely to remain below the minor flood level (2.00 m) during Sunday and Monday.
