Update to Derwent flood watch

Flood Watch for the North West, North, North East, Huon, Derwent and South East catchments

Issued at 11:28am on Friday 6 September 2019

Flood Watch Number: 2

Widespread areas of minor flooding are likely from late Friday with some areas of moderate flooding possible during Saturday.
Rain is forecast statewide from midday Friday with locally heavy falls possible particularly about the east. Thunderstorms are possible about the north and the east during Friday. Rain is expected to ease during Saturday afternoon.
Some catchments are saturated from recent rain and are likely to be highly responsive to forecast rain.
Rainfall totals of 20 to 30 mm are possible for the north west and 30 to 40 mm are possible for the central areas. Higher totals are expected at elevated areas.
Rainfall totals of 40 to 80 mm are expected across eastern Tasmania with totals in excess of 100 mm in elevated areas.
Widespread areas of minor flooding are likely from late Friday with some areas of moderate flooding possible during Saturday

Macquarie River


East Coastal Rivers (north of Bicheno)


Ringarooma River


North Coastal Rivers


Tamar (Launceston)


Mersey River


Forth River


Northwest and Central Coastal Rivers

Huon River


Derwent River


Jordan River


Coal River


East Coastal Rivers (south of Bicheno)


South East
