Fire Weather Warning
for the Midlands, Upper Derwent Valley and South East forecast districts

Issued at 5:10pm  on Thursday 19 December 2019.

Weather Situation

A hot, dry, and windy north to northwesterly airstream develops during Friday afternoon bringing Very High fire dangers to parts of southeast and inland Tasmania. Temperatures in these areas are expected to reach low to mid-30’s, RH of around 20% and northwesterly winds of 30 to 40 km/h. Temperature and fire dangers are expected to peak late Friday afternoon and remain elevated well into the evening.

For Friday 20 December:

Very High Fire Danger is forecast for the following forecast districts:
Midlands, Upper Derwent Valley and South East 
The Tasmania Fire Service advises you to:
  • Action your Bushfire Survival Plan now.
  • Monitor the fire and weather situation through your local radio station, www.fire.tas.gov.au and www.bom.gov.au
  • Call 000 (Triple Zero) in an emergency.

The next warning will be issued by 5am Friday.
