Electrical upgrades for New Norfolk Hospital

THE New Norfolk District Hospital will benefit from improvements under the State Government’s  Rural Hospital and Ambulance Station Fund.

Health Minister Sarah Courtney says the program will create jobs and deliver much-needed upgrades.

“The $15 million Rural Hospital and Ambulance Station Fund is expected to create around 180 jobs to deliver these much needed infrastructure upgrades,” Ms Courtney said. “This plan will support even more jobs into the future as we increase services across our Community Health Centres along with District Hospitals.

“Close to $7 million of the fund has already been allocated to a range of projects which are planned to commence shortly or currently under way. These are real projects with real benefits, delivering work for local firms and building better facilities for these communities.”

At the New Norfolk District Hospital, the government will fund $700,000 in works including electrical infrastructure upgrades and the installation of a modern nurse call system.

In 2018 the hospital received an $85,000 lift upgrade and two years earlier a $208,000 emergency generator was installed to replace one removed some years ago.
