Salvos still serving the community

THE Salvation Army Derwent Valley Corps remains open and is still providing welfare and emergency services to the local community.

The headquarters in Hamilton Rd, New Norfolk, is open with the following changes:

  • Doorways Program: No face-to-face assessments. All assessments by phone and collection of goods from a table set up in the foyer.
  • Friday Meals: Temporarily suspended. Pre-prepared meals are available by prior arrangement.
  • Corps Officers: All interactions through social media and telephone.
  • Adherence to Australian Government Department of Health guidelines and the use of hand-washing facilities before and after entering the building. The safety of volunteers and staff is a priority.
Like many other church organisations, the Salvation Army’s religious services are temporarily suspended while Australia seeks to limit the spread of coronavirus COVID-19 infection.
Contact the Salvation Army by calling 6261 2353, emailing tim.size@salvationarmy.org.au or via Facebook.
