POLICE and several fire brigade crews attended a structure fire in the building known as Ward 10 at the former Royal Derwent Hospital site in New Norfolk tonight.
One of only two original Royal Derwent Hospital wards still standing, the building off Glebe Rd appeared to have had a fire in its roof. The situation was first reported at 6.54pm and was quickly brought under control with minimal damage apparent.
Two heavy tankers and a personnel carrier from the New Norfolk Fire Brigade were on the scene, along with police. The incident is now reported to have been contained.
