Big win to New Norfolk Panthers

SUNDAY saw Tynwald Park host the New Norfolk Panthers’ best game this season, with an 8-1 win over visitors Metro FC. Coming from a disappointing loss last week in the cup game against Clarence, New Norfolk learned from its mistakes and gelled extremely well in all areas of the pitch with some great assists, clearances, saves, and of course, goals.

Whilst the first half saw the Panthers 2-1 ahead, the second half of the match saw far more action, with six goals flying into the back of the opposition net, credited to intuitive planning and team discussion at half time.

Devoted player Nathan Maw celebrated his birthday on the pitch on Sunday and was rewarded with a beautifully put away penalty, marking a goal most certainly to remember! At the end of the match, Nathan Maw, Luke Crosswell, Chris Driver, and Damien Nieuwesteeg had one goal each and the brothers Paul and Martin Cairns again scoring two apiece, further heating up the race for this season’s golden boot.

A great game everyone! For those wanting to attend New Norfolk Soccer Club home games, they are played at noon at Tynwald Park on August 23, September 20, and October 11, 18 and 25.
