GRETNA Cricket Club members and friends gathered at the Gretna War Memorial Recreation Ground last weekend to celebrate the successes of the last season and begin preparations for the summer ahead. The event had been delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The gathering at the club’s home ground last Saturday was for the purpose of presenting trophies to the recipients of various club awards and milestones, including life memberships to Colin Cunningham and Brian Smith. Other life members present were Peter Rainbird, Joey Hack, Michael Browning, Glenn Blackwell, Mathew Burns, Ben Rainbird and Wade Gleeson. The club thanked all its sponsors and trophy donors, as well as Paul Jarvis for supplying a spit roast for the event.

Annual General Meeting
At the AGM held on July 24, at the Gretna Cricket Club, Peter Rainbird was re-elected for his 30th season as president. The other office-bearers are: Rhys Browning, secretary; Todd Jarvis, treasurer; Phillip Sharpe, patron; Jordan Hastie, association delegate; Adam Browning, equipment and merchandise co-ordinator; Jackson Ackerly, canteen co-ordinator; Wade Gleeson, sponsorship officer and historian. The club has entered two teams in the Southern Cricket Association for season 2020/21.
