THE remaining New Norfolk team in this year’s Southern Football League finals is off to Cygnet today (Saturday) to play Southern Storm in the Colts preliminary final at 12.30pm. A win will give the Eagles an opportunity to progress to the grand final.
The young Eagles were at home to Dodges Ferry last Saturday for the elimination final that would be the end of the season for one team and a place in the preliminary final for the other. The game was of a high standard with good skills displayed by both sides.
The first quarter was an arm wrestle with both sides giving everything. The scores were locked together on one goal and three points each, which indicated the pressure being applied by both sides. The young Eagles began to move away from their opponents in the second quarter to take a 17-point lead into half-time.
The boys played consistent football in the second half to maintain their lead to eventually run out winners by 20 points. The young Eagles played four quarters of great football with Brock Triffett and Thomas Lovell again outstanding. With all players contributing it was a rewarding win for the boys.
