32 degrees in the shade

AT 3PM today it was 32.5 degrees at New Norfolk, another above-average temperature that will not be recorded because the town does not have an official weather station.

The Bureau of Meteorology ceased taking observations at New Norfolk in the 1980s, leaving Bushy Park as the nearest location for official records. At 2.50pm today, the temperature was 29.8 degrees at Bushy Park, 28.4 at Ouse, and 27.4 in Hobart.

The bureau introduced daily weather forecasts for New Norfolk several years ago, but there is no local weather station to record the outcome. Today’s forecast predicting a top temperature of 30 degrees in the town. At New Norfolk News central at 3pm today the temperature was 32.5 degrees in the shade.

The bureau forecasts a warm night tonight with the temperature dropping to 19 degrees before rising to 24 degrees on Wednesday, becoming windy with a shower or two.
