Sonic the Hedgehog

See Sonic at Westerway this Saturday night

THE action-adventure comedy film Sonic the Hedgehog will be screened at Westerway this Saturday night. This will be the first movie night hosted by the Derwent Valley Youth Future Action Team (D’FAT) since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, and most of the money raised will go to Cancer Council Tasmania.

D’FAT chair Nic Kaiser said it was great that easing public health restrictions meant it was now possible to run another movie night after a long break. “It’s great to be able to do things again, even if it’s just a small activity that the public can enjoy,” he said.

Rated PG, Sonic the Hedgehog is based on the video game of the same name. It features Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic the Hedgehog, Jim Carrey as Doctor Robotnik, and James Marsden as sheriff Tom Wachowski.

The movie will be screened in the general purpose hall at Westerway Primary School. A COVID-Safe plan will be in place (see below) and spaces are limited due to physical distancing requirements. Everyone planning to attend is asked to register online at https://dfat_wpsmovie20.eventbrite.com.au.

Tickets cost $2 per person (children aged 5 and under will be admitted for free but must have a ticket and be accompanied by a parent/guardian). Food and drinks will be available on the night. The movie night is a drug and alcohol free activity, organised by D’FAT in association with the Salvation Army Derwent Valley Corps and Westerway Primary School.

Mr Kaiser said D’FAT had decided that 60% of the funds raised from this and other activities will go towards the Cancer Council’s 2021 Derwent Valley Relay for Life. For more information contact D’FAT on 0459 096 003 (Matt Hill) or info@dfat.com.au
