WESTERWAY Primary School acting principal Michelle Waldock has invited the community to an open afternoon this Thursday. Dr Waldock (pictured above) is standing in for Andrea Long who has been appointed acting principal at Richmond Primary School for the first half of the year.
“I congratulate Andrea on her appointment as acting principal at Richmond Primary School,” Dr Waldock said. “It is evident that Andrea has led the Westerway staff and school with passion and dedication. I hope that I can continue to lead with the same enthusiasm for quality teaching and learning,” she said.
With 25 years experience in education and extensive qualifications including a PhD, Dr Waldock describes Westerway as a well-equipped school in an idyllic location, serving as a hub for the community. While small in size, the school boasts enviable facilities including modern classrooms, an orchard, kitchen garden and expansive grounds.
The school is well supported , with a strong professional staff including a psychologist and social worker. There is a four-year plan to replace computer devices nearing their end of their life, and a breakfast club is being introduced. Anyone who can spare 45 minutes to help with the breakfast club is asked to contact the school office.
Dr Waldock said she was delighted to join the Westerway school community and she was looking forward to meeting as many people as possible at this week’s open afternoon. Her appointment is initially for Terms 1 and 2 but she would definitely apply for the position on a permanent basis should it become available.
The school will be open to visitors from 4-5.30pm this Thursday, March 11. Classrooms will be open for inspection and there will be tours, displays and a sausage sizzle. Visitors will be asked to sign-in at the front gate for COVID-19 purposes. See the event notice on Facebook.
