Snow on elevated roads

POLICE have warned of snow-covered roads more than 700m above sea-level causing dangerous driving conditions today. They remind road-users to drive with caution on all roads and to be aware of road weather alerts.

As of 12.20pm the Lake Dobson Rd at Mt Field National Park is reported to be closed at the boom gate, with 20cm of snow. Snow- clearing has been completed on the Lyell Hwy at Derwent Bridge, which was previously closed for the first time this year due to snow, and motorists are asked to exercise caution on Highland Lakes Rd.
