Targa in town tomorrow

DAY 5 of Targa Tasmania will see the fleet make its way from the West Coast tomorrow morning (Friday), passing through the Derwent Valley with competitive stages at Tarraleah and Molesworth, and a mid-morning break at New Norfolk.

There will be several road closures between Queenstown and Molesworth throughout the day. Local motorsport fans will have an ideal if poorly promoted opportunity to see the participating vehicles up close at the Derwent Valley PCYC in Derwent Tce, New Norfolk, from 9.58am when the tour cars are due to arrive. The first competition cars are due at 10.28am and the first will set off for Molesworth at 11.28am.

For the competitive stage at Molesworth, Molesworth Rd will be closed between Glen Dhu Rd and Glenlusk Rd from 10.42am until 3.12pm.

For anyone travelling to or from the West Coast today, the Lyell Highway will be closed between Charles St, Strahan, and the Zeehan Hwy outside Queenstown, from 5.26am and 10.41am; between Queenstown and Derwent Bridge from 5.42am until 11.28am; and from Bradys Lake Rd to Oldina Drive (south) between 8.11am and 12.41pm.
