Local businesses take their message to the streets

THE New Norfolk Business Alliance is ramping up its marketing efforts in a renewed campaign to encourage people to shop at New Norfolk. The group, which consists of levy-paying local businesses, has partnered with O’Driscoll’s Derwent Valley Link and New Norfolk and Derwent Valley News to spread the “Shop New Norfolk” message to a wide audience.

Advertisements have appeared in recent issues of this newspaper, as well as the big new message on the back of one of O’Driscoll’s Derwent Valley Link buses. O’Driscoll’s operations manager Steve Lockley parked the bus at the New Norfolk Central bus station in Laskey’s car park recently to allow Business Alliance members to have a close-up view of the big bus-back advertisement.

Business Alliance chair Robbie Iles said the aim was to re-engage with local shoppers as well as attracting those who see the bus on its run between New Norfolk and Hobart. The Business Alliance is a Special Committee of the Derwent Valley Council and its members pay a promotional levy through their council rates.
