Celebrating the people who make the Valley and Highlands great

CALLING all friends and relatives of the quiet achievers of the Derwent Valley and Central Highlands: if you know of someone doing great things in our community, now is the time to speak up. Banjo’s New Norfolk and the New Norfolk and Derwent Valley News have teamed up to create a local award program to shine a light on good deeds in our region.

The Derwent Valley Community Achiever Awards will be awarded monthly, and nominations can be sent to New Norfolk News or delivered to Banjo’s Bakery Cafe in High St, New Norfolk. There are no gold statuettes or mainland holidays on offer, just an opportunity to celebrate the people who make our community great.

The monthly winners will be featured in the newspaper and will receive a Banjo’s voucher and a 12-month subscription to New Norfolk and Derwent Valley News. Nominate a local hero today by emailing letters@newnorfolknews.com or drop a letter into the box near the coffee machine at Banjo’s Bakery Cafe, 30 High St, New Norfolk.

HOW TO NOMINATE: Just tell us your nominee’s name and their achievements and contact details. Nominations must include the name and contact details of the nominator and the nominee. It doesn’t matter if you are the person’s mum or pop, we just might need to check some details with you. The monthly winner will be photographed to appear in the New Norfolk and Derwent Valley News and on the Banjo’s Facebook page
