A spokesperson for Bridgewater Police said a head-on crash occurred between two Toyota HiLux vehicles at about 1.45am this morning (Sunday). Police on the scene report that the area was blanketed in an extreme fog at the time.

“Sadly, the male driver of the vehicle travelling west died at the scene as a result of his injuries. He was in his 50s,” police said. “The 18-year-old male driver and 18-year-old female front passenger of the second vehicle were taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital in a serious but stable condition.”

Gordon River Rd between Glenora and Westerway is closed while crash investigators and forensic services officers remain at the scene. A report will be prepared for the coroner. Ambulance Tasmania and the Tasmania Fire Service were also in attendance.
