Final Flood Warning for the River Derwent

Issued at 10:57 am EST on Tuesday 17 August 2021

Flood Warning Number 3: FLOODING IS NO LONGER EXPECTED IN THE RIVER DERWENT CATCHMENT

Flooding is no longer expected in the River Derwent catchment and flooding is not expected in the River Ouse. 

In the 24 hours to 9:00 am Tuesday, rainfall totals of 10-30 mm were recorded in the Derwent River catchment. No significant rainfall has been forecast for the remainder of Tuesday or Wednesday.

Strong and dangerous flows are likely to be a hazard for coming days.

River Ouse:

No flooding is expected in the River Ouse.

The River Ouse at Ashton is currently at 1.25 metres and steady. The River Ouse at Ashton is expected to remain below the minor flood level (2.40 m) during Tuesday.

No observations are currently available for the River Ouse at Ouse. The River Ouse at Ouse is expected to remain below the minor flood level (4.00 m) during Tuesday.

River Clyde:

Flooding is not expected along the River Clyde.

Styx River:

The Styx River at Bruce’s Bridge is below the minor flood level (2.0 m).

River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam:

No further flooding is expected in the River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam.

The River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam is currently at 3.27 metres and steady. The River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam is expected to remain below the minor flood level (4.10 m) during Tuesday.

The River Derwent at Macquarie Plains is currently at 1.98 metres and rising. The River Derwent at Macquarie Plains is expected to remain below the minor flood level (4.00 m) during Tuesday.
