Initial Flood Watch for the Huon and Derwent Catchments

Flood Watch Number 1: MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE IN THE HUON AND DERWENT CATCHMENTS
A vigorous cold front is expected to cross the state during Sunday. This cold front will bring showers about the North and West. Showers expected to increase in the west and extend into the North East during the afternoon. Rain expected to fall as snow in the evening.
Most catchments in Tasmania remain relatively wet to very saturated and will respond to rain events.
Rainfall totals of 20 – 30 mm are forecast for the west during Sunday with Higher totals of 30 – 40mm possible on higher elevations. In the North East, forecast rainfall totals of up to 15 – 25mm are possible for Sunday.
Forecast rainfall will see water level rises from Sunday afternoon with minor flooding possible at some locations.
Catchments likely to be affected include:Huon River and Derwent River
