SKIERS are celebrating a pleasing dumping of snow at Mt Field overnight but there is little to report on the ground in the Derwent Valley’s major towns. At best, some residents in elevated areas woke to light dustings this morning, but the forecast is for further snowfalls today at Mt Field and Lake St Clair, and showers or snow at Maydena, Strathgordon and Tarraleah.
The Southern Tasmanian Ski Association says this morning’s -3 temperature combined with fresh snow had produced some runs down the Jeep Trail pictured) and there is good snow cover for snow play, cross country skiing and snow boarding. The public day shelter at Mt Mawson is open.
