Derwent flood warning lowered to minor level

Minor Flood Warning for the River Derwent including Ouse and Clyde rivers

Flood Warning Number 6: MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING IN THE LOWER DERWENT RIVER

Minor flooding is occurring along the Derwent River below Meadowbank Dam and Macquarie Plains, and the Clyde River around Hamilton Saturday afternoon. Minor flooding is possible around New Norfolk Saturday evening on the high tide.

Since 9am Saturday no significant rainfall was recorded in the River Derwent catchment and no further significant rainfall is forecast for the remainder of Saturday. Strong and dangerous flows will be a hazard over the next couple of days.

River Derwent above River Ouse:

River levels have peaked along the upper River Derwent above River Ouse during Saturday.

River Ouse:

No further flooding expected along the River Ouse. The River Ouse at Ashton is currently at 2.12 metres and steady. The River Ouse at Ashton is expected to remain below the minor flood level (2.40 m) during Saturday.

No automatic water level data are available at Ouse. Based on information from the nearby Ouse at 3B Weir station, the Ouse at Ouse is likely to have fallen below the minor flood level. The River Ouse at Ouse is expected to remain below the minor flood level (4.00 m) during Saturday.

River Clyde:

Minor flooding is occurring along the River Clyde. The River Clyde at Bothwell is currently at 1.79 metres and steady. The River Clyde at Bothwell is expected to remain below the minor flood level (2.00 m) during Saturday.

No current water level are available for River Clyde at Hamilton. Available information indicate that the river fell below the moderate flood level (3.50 m) this morning and is currently above the minor flood level (2.40 m), and falling. The River Clyde at Hamilton is expected to fall below the minor flood level (2.40 m) Saturday evening.

River Derwent above Meadowbank Dam:

River levels are elevated are along the River Derwent above Meadowbank Dam Saturday.

Tyenna River:

River levels are elevated are along the Tyenna River.

Styx River:

River levels are elevated along the Styx River.

River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam:

Minor flooding is occurring along the River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam. The River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam peaked at 6.44 metres around 11:00 pm Friday 29 October (moderate flood level is 6.10 m) and is currently at 5.18 metres and falling, with minor flooding. The River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam is expected to fall below the minor flood level (4.10 m) overnight Saturday into Sunday.

The River Derwent at Macquarie Plains peaked at 4.67 metres around 6am Saturday 30 October and is currently at 4.22 metres and falling, with minor flooding. The River Derwent at Macquarie Plains is expected to fall below the minor flood level (4.00 m) Saturday evening.

River Derwent around New Norfolk:

Minor flooding is possible along the River Derwent around New Norfolk. The River Derwent at New Norfolk is currently at 1.5 metres and rising. The River Derwent at New Norfolk may reach the minor flood level (2m) Saturday evening, with the high tide.
