Initial Minor Flood Warning for the River Derwent and Ouse River

Flood Warning Number 1: MINOR FLOODING MAY DEVELOP ALONG THE DERWENT AND OUSE RIVER FROM SUNDAY

Minor flooding may develop along the Ouse River at Ashton and Ouse during Sunday, based on forecast and recorded rainfall. Minor flooding may develop along the Derwent River below Meadowbank Dam on Monday.

Since 9am Saturday, widespread rainfall of 10-20 mm was recorded across the Derwent River catchment. A further 5-10 mm are forecast for the remainder of Saturday.

The catchment is wet from recent rainfall and river levels are likely to respond to rainfall. Strong and dangerous flows are likely to be a hazard for the coming days.

River Derwent above River Ouse: Flooding is not expected along the River Derwent above the River Ouse.

River Ouse: Minor flooding may occur along the River Ouse. The River Ouse at Ashton is currently at 0.89 metres and steady. The River Ouse at Ashton may reach the minor flood level (2.40 m) Sunday afternoon. The River Ouse at Ouse may reach the minor flood level (4.00 m) late Sunday afternoon.

River Clyde: Flooding is not expected along the River Clyde.

Styx River: The Styx River at Bruce’s Bridge is below the minor flood level (2.0 m).

River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam: Minor flooding may occur along the River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam. The River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam is currently at 2.31 metres and rising. The River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam may reach the minor flood level (4.10 m) during Monday.
