Local roadside help when you need it

LACHLAN mechanic Nic Skeggs is the new operator of the RACT’s Roadside Assistance service in the Derwent Valley. Nic has operated NS Automotive Services at Lachlan on a part-time basis for nearly five years and took over the RACT contract at the start of July.

The move prompted the former Motors workshop foreman to open his Lachlan workshop on a full-time basis, from 7.30am, Monday to Friday. There he provides logbook servicing on all current and early model vehicles, as well as mechanical repairs, electrical work, fleet vehicles and general maintenance.

His area of responsibility for RACT service extends from Collinsvale to Dromedary, and right up the Derwent Valley to Derwent Bridge. He is on call 24-hours a day, and despite the constantly changing technology of modern vehicles, Nic says the most common call for RACT roadside assistance in his experience has been keys locked in cars, and flat batteries.

Nic said he appreciated the assistance received from the previous RACT contractor, Danbar Automotive in New Norfolk, during the handover. For information about joining RACT Roadside Assistance, call 13 27 22.
