Initial Minor Flood Warning for the River Derwent including Ouse and Clyde

Flood Warning Number 1: MINOR FLOODING MAY DEVELOP ALONG OUSE, CLYDE AND DERWENT BELOW MEADOWBANK DURING FRIDAY BASED ON FORECAST RAINFALL

Minor flooding may develop along the River Ouse and River Clyde from Friday morning and extend downstream to Derwent below Meadowbank Dam from Friday afternoon, based on forecast rainfall.

In the 24 hours to 4:00 pm Thursday, no significant rainfall has been recorded in the Derwent catchment. Widespread rainfall totals of 20-30 mm, with potential higher falls up to 50 mm are forecast for the 24 hours to 4pm Friday.

Renewed river rises are expected in response to forecast rainfall.

River Derwent above River Ouse:

River rises are likely along the upper River Derwent above River Ouse during Friday.

River Ouse:

Minor flooding may occur along the River Ouse, based on forecast rainfall. The River Ouse at Ashton is currently at 1.07 metres and steady. The River Ouse at Ashton may reach the minor flood level (2.40 m) Friday morning. No current water level is available for River Ouse at Ouse. River levels are easing at the nearby 3B Weir station. The River Ouse at Ouse may reach the minor flood level (4.00 m) late Friday morning.

River Clyde:

Minor flooding may occur along the River Clyde, based on forecast rainfall. The River Clyde at Bothwell is currently at 1.22 metres and steady. The River Clyde at Bothwell may exceed the minor flood level (2.00 m) Friday morning. No current water level is available for River Clyde at Hamilton. The River Clyde at Hamilton may exceed the minor flood level (2.40 m) Friday afternoon.

River Derwent above Meadowbank Dam:

River rises are likely along the River Derwent above Meadowbank Dam during Friday.

Tyenna River:

River rises are likely along Tyenna River during Friday.

Styx River:

River rises are likely along Styx River during Friday.

River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam:

Minor flooding may occur along the River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam, based on forecast rainfall. The River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam is currently at 2.40 metres and steady. The River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam may reach the minor flood level (4.10 m) Friday afternoon.
