THE unprecedented demand for tickets to the Lions Derwent Valley Carols in the Park event has led to the Lions Club making 500 more tickets available. Lions president Kerry Kievit is thrilled with the response from the community but the decision to increase the number of tickets was not taken lightly.
“We now have well over 1000 tickets booked and that means that masks must be worn at the event by everyone 12 years of age and over, whenever we are not eating, drinking or singing. However, people with a medical certificate or other documentation from their doctor are exempt,” Mrs Kievit said.
“We’ve also decided to add a bit more fun to the Program this year by introducing two awards, the inaugural Beautiful Bling Award and the inaugural Magnificent Merry Mask award. Prizes and certificates will be presented on the night. The anonymous judge’s decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.”
“So, if you are planning your outfit, don’t forget to bling your mask and come along for a great night with family and friends on the New Norfolk Esplanade. The kid’s activities start at 6pm and the carols at 8pm.”
At the time of writing, 200 of the additional 500 free tickets have already been booked. Anyone still needing tickets is advised to visit www.trybooking.com/BUTIJ without delay.
