Valley crews on fire at state championships

THE New Norfolk Fire Brigade’s senior competition team has returned home from the Tasmanian Fire Brigade Championships with six wins and a state title under its belt. Gretna Fire Brigade’s teams also performed well in multiple categories at the same event at Invermay Park in Launceston this weekend.

New Norfolk’s team competed in seven categories for six wins and a second-place. Gretna also contested seven events and was rewarded with several second and third placings. With its single team, New Norfolk also scored the highest aggregate points and retained the senior state championship.

RESULTS – Seniors Pumper Relay Division 1: New Norfolk Blue 1st, Kingston Blue 2nd, Devonport 3rd; Junior Pumper Relay: Geeveston 1st, Devonport 2nd, Gretna 3rd; Junior GP Pumper Relay: Ravenswood Red 1st, Kingston Blue 2nd, Gretna 3rd; Senior GP Pumper Division 1: New Norfolk Blue 1st, Devonport 2nd, Kingston 3rd; Seniors GP Pumper Relay Division 2: Geeveston 1st, Ravenswood Blue 2nd, Dodges Ferry and Gretna equal 3rd; Senior Siamese Valve Division 1: New Norfolk Blue 1st, Kingston Blue 2nd, Rokeby 3rd; Senior Siamese Valve Division 2: Bridgewater 1st, Gretna 2nd, Kingston Red 3rd; Senior Hose, Hydrant and Extinguisher – Division 1: New Norfolk Blue 1st, Rokeby 2nd, Kingston Blue 3rd; Senior Hose, Hydrant and Extinguisher – Division 2: Bridgewater 1st, Gretna 2nd, Kingston Red 3rd; Senior Wet Hose Marshall – Division 1: New Norfolk Blue 1st, Kingston Blue 2nd, Rokeby 3rd; Junior Tanker Rescue: Devonport 1st, Gretna 2nd, Wellington Blue 3rd; Seniors Tanker Rescue – Division 1: New Norfolk Blue 1st, Kingston Blue 2nd, Rokeby 3rd; Senior Sealed Event – Division 2: Mt Nelson 1st, Taroona 2nd, Gretna 3rd; Senior Sealed Event – Division 1: Devonport 1st, New Norfolk Blue 2nd, Rokeby 3rd.
