THE annual general meetings of the Central Highlands and Derwent Valley councils will be held this week. A requirement of the Local Government Act, these meetings must be held prior to December 14 each year.
The Local Government Act also requires councils to advertise these meetings in the daily press and invite the public to make submissions in response to the annual report. The Central Highlands Council has done so but the Derwent Valley Council appears not to have done the same*.
The Central Highlands Council AGM will be held at the council chambers in Alexander St, Bothwell at 8.45am this Tuesday, December 7. The annual report can be downloaded here.
The Derwent Valley Council meeting will be in the New Norfolk Courthouse at 5.30pm on Thursday, December 9. The draft annual report is available here.
The annual general meeting and annual report relate to the 2020-21 financial year.
