THE Lyell Highway at Hamilton was the location for a joint operation involving Tasmania Police and Transport Safety Officers on Wednesday afternoon last week.
This traffic operation focussed on random breath tests, drug tests, vehicle checks, and licence checks. During the operation, 17 vehicle defect notices were issued, and one driver returned a positive drug test.
A Tasmania Police spokesperson said all road users should be mindful of the “fatal five” contributors to road deaths, particularly during this busy time of year: Speed, Seatbelts, Alcohol and drugs, Distraction and Fatigue
