Council appoints executive officer for Willow Court

AN executive officer has been appointed by the Derwent Valley Council to co-ordinate various activities at Willow Court over the next six months. General manager Dean Griggs said the activation of the historic site had reached the point where additional resources were required.

“We are at a critical and exciting point with the Willow Court precinct,” Mr Griggs said in a letter to stakeholders earlier this week. “There are many activities, agreements and capital projects under way that now all require a degree of coordination. In order to support all of our efforts I have put on additional resources to bring focus to this work over the next six months,” he said.

Mr Griggs said the council had appointed Mandy Bathgate to serve as Willow Court executive officer on a part-time basis, three days per week. “Mandy has extensive experience working and facilitating inter-government and community partnerships with a focus on strengthening citizen participation in government decision making and building community inclusion,” he said.

He said the four key elements of the role were activation, interpretation, investment, and communications and brand, and Ms Bathgate would contact key stakeholders in the coming weeks.
