TWO young cricketers were named as the New Norfolk Cricket Club’s best and fairest players during the annual Adrian Eiszele Medal count last night. For the men’s teams, Jye Lester was named the winner, while Tara Pearce won the women’s award.
Jye Lester was awarded the 2021/22 Adrian Eiszele Medal for the club’s best and fairest player, winning by one vote from Stewart Rice. Lester has been one of the First Grade team’s premier bowlers this season. He opens every week and regularly gets his side into a commanding spot early on. He’s had six four-wicket hauls this season and his best figures are 4-18 against St Aidan’s, having also taken 4-19 against them.
Lester is a two-time 50-over and one-time T20 premiership winner in First Grade and with New Norfolk in this season’s finals he will be hoping to add to that tally. A quiet achiever, he’s a deserving winner of Adrian Eiszele Medal.
Women’s best and fairest Tara Pearce has scored 93 runs at an average of 15.50 with the bat for New Norfolk and has taken nine wickets at an average of 13 with the ball. Her career tally is 445 runs at an average of 40.45, and 27 wickets at an average of 14all, as she’s also played some games with Glenorchy and with the U15s girls.
For the New Norfolk women, her highest score was 35* and she took 2-3 off three. Pearce has been great asset since arriving at New Norfolk this season and her all-round abilities indicate a bright future.
