Maydena remembers on Anzac Day

ABOUT 70 people attended yesterday’s Anzac Day Dawn Service at the Maydena RSL following a short street march along Kallista Rd. The Maydena RSL Club was particularly pleased with the participation of a number of children.

Kayden Cunningham served as the flag bearer and leader of the march and his brother Jack led the recital of the Lord’s Prayer. Wreaths were laid on the club’s monument by Ruby Slater , Dannika Barratt, Nikita Slater and Belle Pritchard. Harrison Cunninhgam placed flowers in memory of his great-grandparents Ross and Mona Cannan and his great uncles Peter and Rodney Cannan.

Kayla Bentley read a poem she wrote about the club’s late president and Vietnam veteran Stanley “Rusty” Morely, which was very well received. Mr Morley died last year and is remembered via a soldier silhouette next to the town’s war memorial monument outside the RSL clubrooms.
