CHILDREN’S storywriting workshops are being held in the lead-up to the inaugural Derwent Valley Writers’ Festival next month. Classes from Glenora District School and Molesworth Primary School took part in workshops earlier this week, and two public sessions will be held as school holiday activities later this month.
Sophie Reid of Derwent Valley Arts said children’s’ authors Emily Conolan and Alyssa Bermudez had worked with the students to write stories in written and illustrated formats. Once completed, these will be compiled into a newspaper to be launched on the first day of the festival in May.
For more information about the free storywriting sessions on April 28 for children aged 8-12, send an email to derwentvalleyarts@gmail.com. These sessions will be conducted by Ms Conolan, who specialises in choose-your-own adventure stories.
The Derwent Valley Writers’ Festival will be held at New Norfolk from May 27-29. The program includes a food panel with cookbook creators Rodney Dunn, Sally Wise, Elaine Reeves and Analiese Gregory; and free movie screenings.
