POLICE have seized cocaine valued at $40,000 from a car being driven by a New Norfolk man. The Police Media and Communications Unit says two people have been charged with with trafficking in a controlled substance following a traffic operation in the Northern Midlands area on Thursday night this week.
“Around 11.20pm, police intercepted an unregistered vehicle being driven by a 27-year-old man from New Norfolk,” a spokesperson said. The driver allegedly tested positive to alcohol and drugs and the vehicle allegedly contained 112 grams of cocaine.
“Both occupants of the vehicle were arrested and charged with trafficking in a controlled substance along with minor drug offences. The driver of the vehicle was also charged with traffic offences,” the spokesperson said.
Both people were bailed to appear at the Launceston Magistrates Court on June 29.
