Two men arrested after break-in

TWO men are in police custody following an incident at New Norfolk earlier this morning. A Tasmania Police spokesperson said officers had responded to a report of a break-in at about 8.30am today (Tuesday). “As a result of quick attendance, police were able to identify a vehicle related to the matter and attempted to intercept the vehicle,” the spokesperson said.

“The vehicle subsequently evaded [police] but two men travelling in the vehicle were taken into custody a short time later in the Claremont area and are currently assisting police with their inquiries. There are no reported injuries at this stage and there is no threat to the wider community. There is an increased police presence in the New Norfolk and Claremont areas while police investigate the matter.”

Police ask that anyone with information contact police on 131444 or report to Crime Stoppers on 1800 33 300 or crimestoppers.tas.com.au. This can be done anonymously.
