New and old faces at the Possum Shed Cafe

ONE of the Derwent Valley’s most popular cafes will reopen tomorrow (Friday) under new management. After a three-month hiatus, The Possum Shed Cafe is ready to welcome old and new customers to its small piece of paradise on the bank of the Tyenna River at Westerway.

The new operators are Renee and Josh Rayner, of Ellendale, who have taken the reins from Monika Decelis and Sharon White who were custodians of the business for 14 years. Monika will be helping with the baking for the next little while and Sharon is staying on as the barista.

Renee and Josh have leased the business for the next two years and look forward to welcoming customers to the Possum Shed, which now boasts a comfortable lounge area as well as a new range of local products including jam, relish, olive oil and even locally-made peanut butter. All the favourite items from the previous menu are still available, as well as additions such as Smith’s Pies and Imago Bakery croissants.

Winter opening hours at The Possum Shed Cafe are 10am-3pm, Thursday to Sunday. The address is 1654 Gordon River Rd, Westerway.
