A SECTION of Glenora Rd at Plenty will be partially closed for most of this week, and completely closed to through traffic on Monday, August 8, for the repair of damaged netting following a recent rockfall. “For safety reasons, a full closure is necessary during the period that the netting is down and remaining loose material is removed,” a Derwent Valley Council spokesperson said.
The road will be closed just after 505 Glenora Rd until just before the No. 1 Railway Bridge, and will be re-opened to single-lane traffic once the risk to motorists is deemed acceptable. During the road closure, a detour via the Lyell Hwy and Gordon River Rd will be in place.
The full re-opening of Glenora Rd is expected by Friday, August 12. The council apologises for any inconvenience and says updates will be published on the council website at derwentvalley.tas.gov.au.
Pancakes by the Ponds Cafe at the Salmon Ponds will be closed for three days while the roadworks are carried out, reopening for business on Thursday, August 11. Access to the hatchery and gardens will remain open but the site encourages visits to be deferred until Thursday.
