Candidate statement: Matt Hill

ONE of the newer members of the Derwent Valley Council has announced his intention to seek re-election in next month’s Local Government elections. Matt Hill is a youth worker who spent many years working with the council but is now employed in the charity sector. He has submitted the following statement for publication (see editor’s note below).

“Hi, my name is Matthew Hill, but most people know me as Matt. During December 2021, I was elected as a Councillor for Derwent Valley Council through a recount. I am running for re-election as councillor for the Derwent Valley Council at the upcoming 2022 Tasmanian Local Government elections.

“I have lived in the Derwent Valley all my life and I am proud and passionate of where I come from. I am an active volunteer in our community and have worked in government and non-government organisations for over 19-years.

“With the ever-growing costs of living, I am committed to working to achieve best value for money services for our community. I believe in making decisions based on facts and in line with regulations and the needs of the community. I will always endeavour to communicate and consult with, involve and respect members of our community. Please VOTE 1 Matt Hill.”
