THE mayor of the Derwent Valley Council will contest next month’s local government elections, seeking to be returned as a councillor and as mayor. Joining the council via by-election last February, Cr Dracoulis has provided the following candidate statement to New Norfolk and Derwent Valley News.
“I was sworn in as mayor of the Derwent Valley on 1st March 2022. Since that time I have worked hard to get out in the community and learn about what is needed. I have advocated to attract funding and support at both a state and federal level and have given practical support locally where it has been within council’s ability to do so.
“I have four children, two of which are grown and a husband who works in hospitality. I know the importance of supporting local business, industry and tourism and will continue to serve the valley as a mayor with integrity, compassion and local interest at heart.”
