“Dear Elizabeth, thank you”

FLAGS were lowered at government buildings and schools throughout the Derwent Valley and Central Highlands this morning, and floral tributes were placed at Arthur Square in New Norfolk as local communities acknowledged the death of Queen Elizabeth II. At Arthur Square, a simple note read “Dear Elizabeth, thank you.”

The following photographs were taken throughout the two municipalities during the day. In the late afternoon, the Derwent Valley Council’s mayor and deputy mayor laid a wreath at the foot of the Queen Elizabeth II diamond jubilee monument at Arthur Square.
