Manhunt for Brighton man after Glenfern incident

POLICE have released images of a person of interest and the vehicle he is believed to be driving, as their investigations continue into an incident where shots were reportedly fired at two police vehicles at Glenfern, near New Norfolk overnight.

Significant police resources including the rescue helicopter, drones and specialist resources are searching for Robert George Greig, 33, of Brighton, and a blue Holden Colorado four-wheel-drive (registration YD08IP) that he is believed to be driving.

Police say no-one was physically injured in the incident but they say one police vehicle containing two officers was shot a number of times while travelling to to arrest an alleged family violence offender near Glenfern about 11.50pm on Monday.

Shortly afterwards, another police vehicle with one officer was driving along Boyer Rd to attend the scene when a dark-coloured four-wheel-drive vehicle driving towards Bridgewater passed it and shots were again fired. The police vehicle was not damaged on this occasion.

Police are looking for this blue Holden Colorado.

Members of the public who have seen Mr Greig or the vehicle he is believed to be driving are asked to not approach him but instead call Tasmania Police on 131 444.
