THE Ouse supermarket has new owners for the first time in many years, with John and Lavinia Hosken recently settling in to operate the landmark business on the Lyell Highway. The handover occurred on August 12 when the couple took over the running of the Ouse IGA Xpress supermarket from the previous owners, Josi Cowen and Graham Hollingsworth. This ended an association going back about 20 years to when Josi’s parents bought the business.
John and Lavinia have been freshening-up the premises and hosted a free sausage sizzle on August 26 for old and new customers. The supermarket is now open from 7am-7pm, seven days per week. Follow their Facebook page for details of weekly specials and the introduction of new product lines. The supermarket has come on board as a seller of the print edition of the New Norfolk and Derwent Valley News, joining the Ouse Post Office as the local stockists for the paper that is all about the Valley and Highlands.
Meanwhile, Josi and Graham still have the Ampol roadhouse up the street from the supermarket, open 6.30am-6pm daily.
