Christmas parade draws its biggest crowd yet

THE crowd that turned out to see today’s New Norfolk Christmas Parade was widely regarded as the biggest in the more than 20-year history of the event. Organisers and participants were thrilled with the community response that saw an audience estimated at more than 2000 in High St.

With nearly 30 floats entered in today’s parade, it was also one of the largest in terms of participants. Judges named Oz Fencing and Welding’s “Who Norfolk” entry and special guest the Derwent Valley Grinch as the best float in the parade. Second and third places went to entries from Glenora District School and St Brigid’s Catholic School.

Today’s parade was the first since 2019, with coronavirus public health restrictions preventing the Derwent Valley Rotary Club from staging the event in 2020 and 2021.

Check back later for a full gallery of all the participants.
