Derwent Valley Australia Day program

WHEN was the last time you threw a thong further than anyone else, or entered a sack race or an egg-and-spoon race? If you want to have a go at those and many more activities on Australia Day, head down to the New Norfolk Esplanade where there’ll be fun for the young and not so young.

The Lions Australia Day Event will be run on January 26 from 11.30am to 2pm. It will follow the presentation of Derwent Valley Council Australia Day Awards on the Circle St lawn at 9.30am on the same day. “So come and enjoy the free Lions barbecue from 11.30am until 2pm, or bring a picnic along with a blanket or chairs to sit on and join in the activities or just chill out on the grass at the beautiful New Norfolk Esplanade with a coffee or ice cream from our food vans,” spokesperson Marg Cranney said.
